Valentine's Day Workshop

Here's a date night/Valentine's Day gift idea!  Use teamwork to create a souvenir of your friendship or relationship by printing a poster with the refrain of "your song," a favorite saying, an inspiring quotation, even a directive such as "pick up after yourself"!  Anything goes at this fun, poster-making workshop; you can even come alone.

No experience is necessary.  Spend a fun evening in our shop, browsing our type and vintage illustration blocks to create two copies of a one-of-a-kind poster.  Collaborate with a friend or loved one on a single design, or register alone and take away two copies of your poster yourself.

Participants will learn to set type, help an instructor set a chase for insertion in a press, and print two copies of the poster they have designed.  Ink on the posters may be wet, but participants will be able to take away their posters at the end of the evening.

Cost: $35 per registration (two people may share a registration)

Bed Press Printing Workshop

Here's that old-fashioned, quick and feisty printing technique!  Get your Gutenberg on! Set type to create a broadside, hand ink it, and imprint it using one of our vintage bed presses.

Presses for this workshop include the simple sign-card press used for decades by stores to create instant signage to our Vandercook Number 2 newspaper proofing press.

Participants will learn to set type, prepare it on the press bed, and run a couple of copies of their work.  The ink may be wet at the end of the evening, but participants will take away two, two-color copies of their work.

No experience necessary, and instructors will guide you through tips and tricks to make your typesetting appealing and fun.

Our instructors will guide you through typesetting, chase building, and printing, offering tips and tricks that give your work an elegant touch.
