This is an introduction to printing course, taught by Kim Miller, Owner/Operator of Tribune Showprint Posters, the oldest continuously operated letterpress business in America. Kim has experience as an art teacher as well as running Tribune and advising students at Book Arts Collaborative. This is a rare opportunity to gain in-depth insight and experience in letterpress printing.
For the first class, you will learn the basics of setting type and how the presses operate. You will also be able to choose a print project from a variety of options, some of which are custom business cards, custom greeting cards, or a broadside.
For the second class, which will be held on Monday, December 9th from 6-8 p.m., you will work towards getting the plans for your project finalized, and you will begin the assembly process.
For the third and final class, which will be held on Monday, December 16th from 6-9 p.m., you will begin and complete the printing process for your project.
No experience is necessary. This course will be fun and illuminating to beginners and well as established designers and artists.
